Windsor chair 02

Similar look to my first Windsor but very different technique. After slaving away for 10 days on the first one out in the bush with no power tools, this version jumped on the props superhighway aka cheaters lane. It took me 4 days, which I still thought seemed quite a long time considering I used all prefab dowel for the arm sticks, back sticks, and stretchers. And power tools on everything. I did some shaping on the lathe to get a tapered look and create joint diameters. I didn’t set a jig for any of the joint drill angles figuring I’d done them all by eye on the first one so I liked my chances, and if they were slightly out it would only add to the rustic look I was asked to create. The thing that took the longest was actually the 2 curved armsticks at the front. I frigged around bending some cane with mixed results and then turning to aluminium. Not the quickest task in terms of getting a compound curved rod to fit neatly in the gap but worked out eventually. Scenic done by the wonderful OA scenic art department to match the set.
